| ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
“O, you perpetrator of sin! Do not feel safe from the end result of it, when what follows the sin is greater than the sin which you committed, for to feel little or no embarrassment towards those on the right and the left of you when you committed the sin is greater than the sin which you committed. Your laughter, when you know not what Allah will do to you is greater than the sin. Your happiness with the sin if you succeeded in doing it is greater than the sin, and your unhappiness at being unable to commit the sin is greater than the sin if you had succeeded in committing it. Your fear of the wind if it moved the curtain covering your door while you were committing the sin and your heart is not disturbed by Allah seeing you is greater than the sin which you committed. Woe to you!
Do you know what was the sin of Ayyub (peace be upon him) and why Allah, the Most High tested him in his body and by the loss of his wealth? The sin of Ayyub was only that a poor man sought his help in alleviating injustice that had befallen him, but he did not help him and he did not enjoin the good or forbid the oppressor from commiting injustice against this poor man and so Allah, the all Mighty, the all Powerful put him to trial.”

| LOVE IS SECRET
Love is a secret connection between the lover and his beloved. Many a time love is cemented between them not for their beauty but for the union of their souls. The Prophet Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam said: "Out of them, love grows among those who have got similarity of souls." So it appears that there are five cause's of love:
(1) A man loves his life, his perfection and his living long. (2) He loves one who helps him in his livelihood. (3) He loves one who does good to the people. (4) He loves one who has external and internal beauty. (5) He loves one who has a secret connection with him.
If these qualities are found in one person, love for him is increased manifold.

| Al-Hasan al-Basri was once asked:
“Why is it that we cannot uphold prayers at night?”
He answered: “You are shackled in your own sins”. |

| But if you wonder, what is amazing in their saying, "When we are dust, will we be in a new creation?" They are the ones who disbelieved in their Lord, and they will have yokes on their necks, and they will be inmates of the fire, where they will remain. [13: 5] | |

| Ibn al-Jawzi said: “Something was causing me a great deal of grief and distress, and I started to think long and hard about how to get out of this situation by any means, but I could not find any way out. then I came across this verse: ‘…And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out [of every difficulty].’ (65:2)
I realised that Taqwa (Piety, fearing Allah) is the way out of every kind of grief and distress. As soon as I followed the path of taqwa, I found the way out.” I say: for the wise men, taqwa is the way that leads to everything good, for calamity happens only as a result of sin, and it can only be lifted through repentance. Sadness, grief and worry are punishments for sins that you have committed, by falling short in your prayers, or backbiting about a Muslimah, or taking the matter of hijab lightly, or committing a haram (forbidden) action. Whoever goes against the laws of Allah, the Almighty, has to pay the price for that shortcoming. The One Who created happiness is the Most Gracious Most Merciful, so how can you seek happiness from anyone other than Him? If people had control over happiness, there would be no deprived or grieving person left on earth.” http://fafirrooelaallaah.wordpress.com/~ So true . I thought of that verse, and I only now realised it was from the Qur'an..

It's saying that neither those with fear nor those with hope are doing what they're supposed to do. The person who fears jahannam is falling short by still committing sins, and the one who hopes for jannah is always slacking in doing good deeds.
