Nobody is born learned. Learning is to be acquired. Ibn Abbas Radhiallahu Anhu said: "To discuss about learning in a portion of night is dearer to me than to keep up awake throughout the night in prayer."

Allah advised us to pray thus: "0 Lord, give us good in this world and good in the hereafter - 2: 297. In explaining 'good' in this verse, Hasan Basari Rahimahullah said that it means Knowledge so far as this world is concerned and Paradise so far as the hereafter is concerned.

On the authority of Bukayr or Abu Bukayr that Ibrahim at-Taymee said:

"The one who is not afflicted with sadness and grief should fear being from the people of the Fire because the people of Paradise will say "All praises and thanks be to Allah, who has removed from us grief" (35:34)

Four things increase wisdom-to give up useless talk, to cleanse the teeth, to keep company with the learned and the pious men.

Four things appertain to divine service-to take steps with ablution, to prolong prostration, to keep attached to the Masjid and to recite the Quran much.

And marry those among you who are single (i.e. a man who has no wife and the woman who has no husband) and (also marry) the Salihun (pious, fit and capable ones) of your (male) slaves and maid-servants (female slaves). If they be poor, Allah will enrich them out of His Bounty. And Allah is All-Sufficent for His creatures' needs, All-Knowing (about the state of the people).

"The highest degree in faith is that you [will] always regard yourself in the presence of Allah."

Hudhayfah said: “A time will come upon you where none will be saved except those who supplicate as if they are drowning.”

Ibn Abi Shaybah also reported that Abu Hurayrah said: “There will be a fitnah such that nothing can rescue you from it except to supplicate as if you are drowning.”

“Whoever desires the quick-passing (transitory enjoyment of this world), We readily grant him what We will for whom We like. Then, afterwards, We have appointed for him Hell; he will burn therein disgraced and rejected ( far away from Allaah’s Mercy). And whoever desires the Hereafter and strives for it, with the necessary effort due for it (i.e. does righteous deeds of Allaah’s obedience) while he is a believer (in the Oneness of Allaah Islamic Monotheism) — then such are the ones whose striving shall be appreciated, (thanked and rewarded by Allaah)”

al-Isra' 17:18-19

"Patience is half [the] faith, and confidence is full faith."

"He is to be preferred who has the urge to sin, [yet] does not sin."

Hadhrat Umar Radhiallaaahu Anhu

"In the event of distress, a man depends solely upon his own plans and relies upon people. When he is disappointed from all sides, then alone he turn[s] to Allah."

Hadhrat Uthmaan Radhiallaahu Anhu

"O you who believe! Seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer). Truly! Allah is with As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)"

al-Baqarah 2:153

Abdullah ibn Mas'ud

"O my soul, it is not for a few days patience,
As if her extent were a few dreams.
Oh my soul, pass quickly on through this world,
And leave it, for indeed life lies ahead of it."

“Fear Allah and obey Him. Be afraid of the Day when you shall be brought back to Allah. Then every person shall be paid what

he earned; and they shall not be dealt with unjustly”

(al-Baqarah 2:281)

"I am surprised at three things:
1. [A] man runs from death while death is inevitable.
2. One sees minor faults in others, yet overlooks his own major faults.
3. When there is any defect to one's cattle he tries to cure it, but does not cure his own defects."
