Boy of 7 killed in Bolton as wall falls

A boy aged seven died in a freak accident when part of a wall he was playing on fell and hit him.

Mustafa Altaf had been climbing on the wall with his cousins when a concrete ball on top of a pillar broke off and struck his head.

His family took him to hospital with severe head injuries but doctors were unable to save him.

The accident happened at the home of one of Mustafa's uncles in Bolton.

Last night his parents, Majad and Fareen Altaf, of nearby Farnworth, were said to be devastated.

Uncle Shakeel Iqbal, 36, said: "This was a tragic accident and the whole family and friends are very upset. He was a happy, playful boy."

Fellow pupils at St William of York RC Primary prayed for Mustafa at assembly.
