Thou wert lent to me as a trust,
A trust from the Almighty,
Yet I neglected thee for too long,
And now my tears cannot hope to heal thee.

For so long have thou lamented in thy pitiable state,
Yet to these ears of mine thy cries bore no weight.
Alas accursed deception, to my insufferable fate!
How could it be that thy bled, whilst I remained oblivious to thy state?

Unbeknownst to me, thou wept in thy chains,
Until the scars bit too deep to leave thy tormentor unscathed.
Only then did I realise how thee had suffered in pain,
Every sin I didst do driving thee insane.

Now it is that my pain hath driven me to repenteth
And in shame I plead to thy Lord to forgiveth his slave.
At last thou art free from thy oppressive state,
And for death’s sweet embrace dost thou now wait.
