Imaam al-Shaafi’i Rahimahullaah said: ‘There is nobody except that he has someone who loves him and someone who hates him. So if that’s the case, let a person be with the people who are obedient to Allaah `Azza Wa Jall.’

Al-Qur’an al-Kareem Empty

Al-Qur’an al-Kareem

I was left speechless
For my voice had been taken by the beauty of those words
Unable to believe my ears had not deceived me
Had it not been for the clear proofs therein
The light of which still burned in my heart
The power of which still trembled through my veins
The worth of which the diamonds of the heavens and the earth could never compare

For these were the words He Himself had declared and sent down
Through the wings of a messenger, O noble Jibra’il
Revealed in al-Hira to the one in the cave
The one who wept with love in the remembrance of his Lord
Who fell down in Ta’if, stoned and bleeding
Yet ever the mercy to mankind as he cried for his brothers, Beloved of Allah
Enrobed with the garment of the words he did recite
Shining brighter than a full moon, his face illuminated with Noor
Blazing with the words of His Lord Most High
Blazing with a heart of purity
Blazing with Rahma, Assalaatu alan-Nabi

Neither poetry nor falsehood but only a warning to those who take heed
Neither altered nor irrelevant ‘til the Day of Qiyamah draws forth
Its verses preserved in the minds of the Hufaaz, wet upon their tongues
Yet still ignored by others who know nothing of its magnitude
Left to gather dust high above a head that does not wish to see sense
Or eyes that in foolishness do not wish to see the curve of the letters as they form
Or ears that do not wish to hear the unbearable beauty of its lines
Or hearts that do not wish to be moved from their place with the strength of its love
Overcome by the power of the nafs and its desire to remain heedless
Even in the face of guidance, so that its lower whims may instead be satisfied
Yet ever craving more and more darkness with an appetite that can not be fulfilled

While all those who have witnessed the Qur’an will long for more
If they truly be of the ones who believe
For who is there than can create even one ayah to its likeness?
Who is there who has yet fulfilled the challenge of the Quran?
To test the challenge of Allah that He Himself sets forth for those who deny its truth?
For its coolness is a shade against the Fires of Jahannam,
And its strength is an intercession on the Day when it will be a saviour
For the one who used to recite and act upon the commands of his Lord most High
And on that Day the nights which kept him from sleep as he recited in salaah,
And the days that kept him in worship as he read from the Book of Allah
Will come as a testimony for him when all else shall fail
For his sacrifice in the name of Allah is never in vain.

From darkness to light its guidance draws forth
From despair to hope, its verses inspire
From heedlessness to clarity, it clears all doubts
Pondered by those who reflect and draw close
From sickness to health, its healing is truth
Etched in the hearts’, carved in the souls’
Limbs a living embodiment of all it contains and commands.

Each breath a pain when parted from its light
Each blink of an eye filled with tears despite
The sweetness of beauty removed from the gaze
‘Till once more it draws forth to lift from the haze
Vision no longer clouded, limbs no longer led astray
Guidance sought within its words, clear proofs as the light of day
For none can deny the message it brings
Its origin divine from the King of all Kings

Al-Qur’an al-Majeed, Al-Qur’an al-Kareem,
May it be its light shines as though from a dream
A dream called Firdous where we pray to dwell
In peace with al-Habib where no blemish can tell
Nor time end, nor beauty waste
Nor love diminish, nor need for haste
As this world shall end there it shall never be so
An eternal reward from the treasures of Allah

For therein lie gardens with rivers that flow
Reclining on couches and eating of fruits near at hand
In palaces of gold or silver and innumerable wealth
With land lush and green and houris fair and beautiful;
But what of this when the dwellers of Firdous are with the one they love
Ya Habib Allah, Ya Rusool Allah (s.a.w)?
For is it not said to the companion of the Qur’an,
Recite and rise in status! Recite as you used to recite in the world,
For your status will be at the last verse you recite?
Honoured is he whose heart is an abode for the words of His Lord,
Whose tongue is a vessel by which to say as He has revealed,
Whose limbs are but a means of commanding the good and forbidding the evil,
And whose night is spent in the recitation of its glorified verses,
For while others sleep the lover of Quran is with his Beloved, (s.w.t) ever pondering
Ever pondering the ayahs of his Lord Most High.

So go back, O believer! O slave of the Almighty!
Turn not away from His path, His path of Guidance!
Turn not away from His Book, the Mother of all Books!
For verily it is the final revelation to all mankind and jinn,
The noblest of Books, uncorrupted, unaltered, pure and protected
The Word of Allah Most High, delivered on the wings of an angel
O noble Jibra’il! To the one in the cave, the cave of al-Hira,
The Messenger of God, Sayyidinah Muhammad (s.a.w)...

So send peace and blessing on our Messenger
Allahumma Salli wa sallim wa baarik alaih.
La illaha ilalla Muhammadur Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa sallim...

JazakAllahu khair

May Allah grant us the tawfiq to love the Qur'an, memorise its text, ponder over its verses, and allow it to be a light within our hearts, and an intercessor for us on the Day of Judgement.

Aameen.
