How soon we forget...

We take so long to respond to their calls but our mothers gave up many a night’s sleep just to tend to us.


When we do something for them we want it appreciated but how many of their favors do we count?


If we give them money we want the world to recognize but when they took food destined for their own mouths and put it into ours the memories go blank.


We look to tomorrow but forget that they gave up their yesterday for our today.


When they are ill we complain we can’t hear the Tv but when we cough her heart will skip a beat.


We see fit to walk ahead of them but they once braved the cold and heat pushing our prams.


When we were young we were the sparkle of their eye but when they grow old they are the bane of our lives.


When we were helpless they protected us but when they need us the phone goes on silent.


We remember all their faults but they forgive all our wrongs.


We pray for dunya and wealth but their duas have always been for us.




We have always felt we come first and they have always agreed…
