'Abdullah ibn Mubarik reports that once he went on Hajj and came across an old lady some where on the way who was wearing the woolen garments. He went to her and they had following dialogue/

'Abdullah: :salams

The word from a Merciful Lord (for them) is: Peace! [36:58]

'Abdullah: May allah be Merciful on you, what brought you here?

Those whom Allah sendeth astray, there is no guide for them
[7:186]

'Abdullah: (Asuming that she might have been left from her cravan or lost the way)
where do you intend to go?

Glorified be He Who carried His servant by night from the Inviolable Place of Worship to the Far Distant place of worship [17:1]

'Abdullah: (Thinking, that after she had performed Hajj she intend to go to the Jerusalem.
Since how long you have been here?

Three nights [19:10]

To be continued... :insha:

'Abdullah: I find no food with you. How did you live without it?

:Lady
Who feedeth me and watereth me. [26:79]

'Abdullah: How do you make ablution?

and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it.
[5:6]

'Abdullah: I have food, would you like to eat?

Then strictly observe the fast till nightfall [2:187]

(She told him in Qur'anic words that she was fasting)

'Abdullah: But this is not the month of Ramadhaan?

to be cont. Insha Allah

ps: wanna guess what would be the nxt verse to his question? Insha Allah

Quote :
why do you ask?

Because everything is wrong.

For starters rabee'ah basriyyah never got married, so how could she have a child called yahya? and the woman in this story had about 3 sons if i recall correctly.

And it's never been said that this woman was rabee'ah basriyyah.

well at the end of the story it says
The true identity of the lady of enviable virtues could not be ascertained. Some call her Umm Yahya, some say, she was Rabe'a Basri. But these are suppositions. Allaah knows her reality. So.

I thought that too....ive heard of the story, but never of it being Rabiya Basriyyah....i thought it would have been mentioned right at the beginning, instead of 'old woman'.
