Injustice:
Bystander…

O Silent Witness…

The media shows before our eyes, cries out for all to hear

Shows their faces, so innocent, filled, frozen with fear

Their haunting screams, silenced, fall on deaf ears, drowned out

As shells mash crowds, blown up, bombed, we hear them shout

We ignore their pleas, their pain, and eyes blind we hear their cry,

Hearts’ stone cold -no love- hearts’ rock hard as we watch them die.

Where’s the justice in this world of anarchy?

Where babies’ blood is spilt in ‘civilised barbarity’?

Bullets tearing through innocent souls, our kin

Necks twisted like vile vermin, dumped, drowning in sin?

No sense, just paralysing terror, one-year-old murdered before our eyes

We ignore their pleas; your pleas, hear their cries; now your cries

Heart stone cold as we watch them die- too blind, watching humanity burn and die

Burning in fires of chaos and destruction, flames so high

Then your cries land on deaf ears and you’re punished for eternity... then you cry

Then you question the injustice, see the suffering... then you question why?...

When it’s happening all around, you watch and do nothing, allowing injustice to pass you by

Until it happens to you- then there’s no one left to stand up for you... only then do you cry

‘Command the good and forbid the evil’- instead you watch without remorse as they die

When it comes for your turn you seek help- by that time there’s no one left... then you cry

No sense, just paralysing terror, millions, baby girl murdered before your eyes

We ignore their pleas; your pleas, hear their cries; now your cries

Heart stone cold as we watch them cry- too blind, watching humanity burn and die

Burning in fires of chaos and destruction, Hell’s flames so high

Then your cries land on deaf ears and you’re punished for eternity... then you cry

Eyes no longer dry, no longer blind; no one left to hear your screams

Now wet with despair; pain erupting, illusions, deceptions shattered like distant dreams

Then you think, question the injustice, see the suffering... then you question why?...

You do not need to be a Muslim to care for the injustice, the suffering all too clear

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, lost in chaos, poisoned with fear

We love for our brothers what we love for ourselves- do we not love a life of ease?

Do we not wish those suffering in lands of blood and war to find the light of Islam, eternal peace?

This Ummah is like the human body- when one part of that body aches, the entire body aches

When we see the suffering of our brothers and sisters, pain flows and our heart truly breaks.

Even non-believers should understand that to allow injustice in your presence is to agree

As though doing the act yourself- sharing the sin, sharing the punishment, silent to their cries

Keen ears for gossip, tongues furious with backbiting, eyes hungry for forbidden sights.... lies

Yet when to comes to injustice, suffering turns a blind eye, deaf to their pleas, refusing to respond...

When it’s your turn to taste the death, the reek of misery, the cold tears of loneliness and suffering...

Only then do you wonder why no one offers their help: no shoulder to lean on, no mountain to protect....

Crumbling, Iman shattered; when lions once roared so strong, unafraid....

Defeated; when he never fell down in despair; bearing the greatest burdens

Heart heavy, tears flow; when his suffering is incomparable, endured with patience

His mercy, overwhelming our Prophet’s smile is radiant; a beautiful light through darkness intense...

For those who do not care to believe in the words of a Muslim...

Something to reflect on when the Nazi’s started their blood baths

Millions slaughtered since no one spoke out

Since it didn’t affect them

So long as they were safe, it didn’t matter...

Until it was their turn to die, and no one was left to help...

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me--
and there was no one left to speak out for me...
