| Salam! Can someone help me... i need a good explanation of the term "Qiyaas" (according to the hanafi fiqh) i understand it (kinda) but i dont know how to explain it thoroughly to someone else? any help would be grateful jazak'allah | |

| thnx but i need a way to explain this in very simple terms with examples... iv looked through the internet and got a lot of info but i am finding it difficult to break it down into a few sentences and find some examples that explain the definition... | |

| Nisaa gave the meaning of Qiyaas A simple example of qiyaas would be found in drugs, there is no explicit text from the Qur'aan and Sunnah that mentions drugs, so qiyaas is used, qiyaas bases a ruling upon a similar ruling that is found in the Qur'aan and Sunnah, and what ruling is it that's found in the Qur'aan and sunnah? intoxication, that is found in drugs, that is sufficient to prohibit drugs. But drugs doesn't just stop there, it's much worse, but that's a different story. So in simple terms qiyaas is making a new ruling basing it upon a similar ruling in the Qur'aan and Sunnah. And Allaah knows best. | |
