| Qur'aan Section - Surah Ikhlaas - 112 بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ In the name of Allaah, the Most Merciful, the bestower of Mercy قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ Say: "He is Allah, One. اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ He is the self sufficient. لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ Allah He begets not, nor was He begotten. وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَّهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ And there is non comparable to Him.''
Virtues of this Chapter: Equivalent to one third of the Qur'aan
Abû Sa`îd al-Khudrî relates that the Prophet ( ) asked his Companions:
"Would any of you be unable to recite a third of the Qur'an in the course of a single night?"
They were troubled by this question and asked: "Who would be able to do that, O Messenger of Allah?"
He said: "(The chapter of) 'Allah is the One… the Needless…' (Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad…) is a third of the Qur'ân."
[Sahîh al-Bukhârî (5015)] Paradise for the one who recites it
Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet ( ) heard a man reciting Qul huwa Allaahu ahad, and said,
"It is his right.'
They asked, 'O Messenger of Allaah, what is his right?' He said,
'Paradise is his right.'
(Reported by Imaam Ahmad, 7669)A chapter that has never been revealed before
'Uqbah ibn 'Aamir said: "I met the Messenger of Allaah ( )… and he said to me,
'O 'Uqbah ibn 'Aamir, shall I not teach you some Soorahs the like of which have not been revealed in the Tawraat (Torah) or the Zaaboor (Psalms) or the Injeel (Gospel)? There is no night comes but you should not recite ( i.e., every night you should recite) Qul huwa Allaahu ahad [Soorat al-Ikhlaas], Qul a'oodhu bi Rabbi'l-falaq [Soorat al-Falaq] and Qul a'oodhu bi Rabbi'l-naas [Soorat al-Naas].'"
'Uqbah said: "So every night I would recite them. It became my duty to recite them, because the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had commanded me to do so…"
