I'm an aspiring Hafiza, as I'm sure many of us here are. I find it's best for people to learn the Qur'aan together since we're more motivated and disciplined to keep on track of what we're supposed to have memorised. So why don't we start out own Darul Ilm Qur'aan memorisation project from today?

At school, I've decided to spend my lunchtime with my friend memorising + testing each other, since we no longer have to pray salah then as the days are longer, so we have some time to learn and recite together! But what about all of us on this site?

Say how much you've memorised already, and then we'll set new sabak to memorise with the deadline, and reply when you've completed it!

There's only 4 months left 'till Ramadaan, so lets get started and see how much we can memorise before then! We've got a lot of people on this site, so there’s no reason why we can't strive together to learn the Book of Allah (s.w.t).

May Allah grant us the tawfq to fulfil this noble task and keep the Qur'aan as a light within our hearts at all times, Aameen.

Ok. So far I've done Juz 'Amma, although I'm still revsing it, plus a few small parts of other surahs.

My friend's done around 13 juz, 10 or so from the back, and Surah al-Baqarah and part of Surah Aali-Imran.

Right now I'm on Surah Mulk.

JazakAllahu khair How long did it take you to memorise all of juzz 'amma and do you do it yourself or do you take hifdh classes?

BTW I think it's so much easier when you know what the ayaat mean.. =o Even if it's not word to word..

PostSubject: Re: Darul lm Qur'aan Memorisation- Goal: Ramadaan   Darul lm Qur'aan Memorisation- Goal: Ramadaan Icon_minitimeThu Apr 29, 2010 6:35 pm

I'm not sure how long it took me, since I learnt most of it before and was then made to forget it, so I learned it at the end of last year, but not properly, since I got busy with school and then had to keep revising it until now. I learnt it my myself, and then sometimes my Ustaad listened to a couple of the surahs, or my friend, but that's about it.

But now I want to get serious about it and dicipline my time ect so I can memorise it as soon as I'm capable of it, and have to make sure I do revise constantly so I don't forget it again, since i think its worse learning and then forgetting, since it shows negligence toward what we've put into our heart of the words of Allah. I'm really motivated to do as much as possible before Ramadaan, so I'll get the entre month to review it and read lots of Qur'aan and really connect with it insha'Allah.

I'm also going to try and learn the Arabic language since it is easier to memorise something that you understand; some spoken stuff with my friend who speaks Arabic, and the rest via the internet, on 'understandQuran' which has got really good courses online, and the Madinah Arabic course every week insha'Allah, so I'll try to understand what I can of the meaning along with hifz, and then practise writng the Quran with the word-for word meaning perhaps, and the tafseer, once I've completed the enote Qur'aan insha'Allah.

My friend and I have decided to learn for 30 mins at lunchtime then we'll test each other during the second half for a couple of days a week whe we can, so we can increase in hifz together insha'Allah, but I don't go to any hifz classes. At masjid we're trying to get the rest of the students to memorise Juz 'Amma as well before Ramadaan for part of the lesson, so I focus my own hifz at home.

PostSubject: Re: Darul lm Qur'aan Memorisation- Goal: Ramadaan   Darul lm Qur'aan Memorisation- Goal: Ramadaan Icon_minitimeFri Apr 30, 2010 4:18 pm

I haven't done much =( at madrasah we do a little bit of hifdh, so just going along with that, inshaAllah my goal is to completely finish and do properly all of juzz amma and then I'll have to get into classes or something cause I dunno where to start. (kinda tough finding classes with times suitable for me though)

I repeat like 3 or 4 times each ayah and then join onto next and repeat again like that but juzz amma has short ayaat so it's not too hard, alhamdulillah.

I'm thinking about listening also, I think that helps a lot for me, if I listen to recitation it just plays in my head so I'm gonna do that. =)

But that knowing what it means helps the most, alhamdulillah!

JazakAllahu khair Sis for this thread, it's encouraging me to sit down every down and memorise

I've got a limit of how much I need to revise and memorise each day but nothing set, the most important thing for me right now is consistency. I don't want it all to stop.

I want to memorise the whole Qur'an in the shortest time possible but that's so unrealistic =(

Insha'Alah you'll have ease in memorising the entire Qur'aan ukhti, and for Juz 'Amma listening to this really helps, especially with revision, since Qari Mishary is recting a verse and his students repeat after him Darul lm Qur'aan Memorisation- Goal: Ramadaan Icon_smile Hope you'll find that helps.

Tajweed Juz 'Amma

Consistency is something I need to focus on as well. Right now it's the approach of Ramadaan that's motivating me to learn, especially if I complete the Qur'aan before school ends next year with my friend... It'll be like we're going to get our GCSE results in the summer, but more importantly we'll have the whole of Ramadaan gift-wrapped for us like our reward for becoming hufaath, subhan'Allah... Darul lm Qur'aan Memorisation- Goal: Ramadaan 365112
Allamumma salli wasallim wabarik alaih.

O Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is in between them, I pray to You to bless my dear ukhti with the light of Your Words, with the love of what they contain, with the ability to retain them in her heart and mind and etch them into her soul, and become a living embodiment of all its commands, and to forbid all it prohibits; and for her to be as a means of guiding others to Your path of light, and for her voice to cry out with the beauty of what You have revealed.…

I pray for her to be able to stand up in prayer in the darkness where those who love You stand in qiyaam, reciting Your Book night after night, day after day, as much as she is able to.

Allow her to teach others the art of Tajweed, and the beauty of hifz, and for her to succeed in the task she has undertaken for herself, and the task I and many others aspire towards; with the goal of memorising Your noble Qur’aan as soon as we can bear, and are able to, Ya Ar-hamar-raahimeen…

So allow us to have engraved Your words into our minds and hearts by this Ramadaan, to have the honour of becoming a Hufaadh on the night of Qadr; or if we are unable to do that, then to do so before we die; and if we are unable to do that, then to have the reward equal to that, for we have the intention of doing so, Ya Dhal jalaali wal ikraam, amitna alaa Deenil Islam.

O Allah, I beg of You to accept this humble duaa for my ukhti, so that she may draw closer to You, and for us to be reunited in Firdous, in the company of Your Beloved, Sayyidinah Rusool Allah (s.a.w); for although I have not met her in truth in this world, I still love her for Your sake and pleasure; with the blood of the Ummah of our Messenger (s.a.w) uniting us, and the breath of Islam joining us as sister in Imaan and with the shared intention of memorisng Your Book binding us to Your glorified Words.

But as for my heart... she reminds me of my friend, who came as the answer to a duaa I once made, and fills me with love I cannot put into words- even though I have never seen the sister I speak of, or spoken to her save through this site; so I beseech you to pardon her sins and draw her closer to You, enveloping her in the folds of Islam and suffusing her with the scent of Jannah- and aid her in completing this noble task, so that come Ramadaan, she will be blessed as a hafidha of al-Qur'aan …

Aameen.
