wswrwb

I am actually way overdue from making a thread like this, i wanted to make a thread using the ahaadeeth quoted in mishkaat, but as you can see, i never got around to doing it.

How exactly do you want this done?

My idea is slightly different from yours, i was going to quote ahaadeeth, and give the explanation of it as well, but i suppose i can still do the same with your idea too.

So tell you what, you choose a hadeeth to translate and i'll correct any mistakes you make, and i'll add the explanation as well, would that be okay with you?

I don't know, I don't know much.. like I would have just chosen random ones that are easy. We won't do mishkaat until I'm in mishkaat.. =/ which is second to last year. It's hard Arabic.. isn't it

Not really, all ahaadeeth use the same arabic, and it's really quite easy.

So tell you what, you can do all the random ones you want, and if there's anything to check or add to your ones then i'll do so, and i'll do from mishkaat from my own side, how's that?

Oh I can't wait until I can read Arabic and understand.. I want to do translations, plus you get to read tafseer! It's so lacking in English.. how exciting! And you get the most awesomest books in Arabic.

http://hadith.al-islam.com/ I'll use this and pick easy hadith for me to translate.

I'm so spoiled for choice, which shall I use, I want to do from موضوعات الحديث الشريف I don't actually know what موضوعات means.. but it looks good, plus they are small I think? Okay is this right

nabi salallahu alayhi wasalaam na kaha, nahin Allah chupaata hai banday par dunya mein, sirf Allah nay chupaya usko qiyamaah ka din

It doesn't make sense.. =o Let me do it all in urdu first then I'll convert to English. I think I know this hadith it is referring to sin isn't it?

I find it interesting, you know it says yastaru (have I got the i'raab wrong?) that means it's present/future but satr is past... ? isn't it.. how come?

Indeed it is.

mawdhoo'aatul hadeeth... simply means the sections/subjects of ahaadeeth, what it's doing is simply showing you all the chapters from the books of hadeeth.

Can you translate it in english along with the urdu? because i have never translated ahaadeeth into urdu, but i don't think you should use the word "sirf" there, rather the word "magar" should be used. and also people use the word "farmaya" instead of "kaha".

What the hadeeth is saying is: Allaah does not cover (the sins) a servant in the dunyaa but that Allaah will cover it on the day of qiyaamah.

And also when you do these translations then put its source down so we can know which book of hadeeth it's from.

Yep the i'raab is wrong, satara is on baab nasara, ya'ni satara yasturu like nasara yansuru, and not like fataha yaftahu.

Aye it's past tense, but sometimes past tense is used to denote future tense, and it's generally used like that, you'll probably learn about it in balaaghah.

Alright I'll translate into urdu in my head then English. So I got it right? ^_^ Alhamdulillah, in the Arabic, the word 'sin' is not used, but we have to put it in? How you did in brackets?

Yes, I get the baab thing now, we've learnt the main 5 I think..

But I don't know which ones to translate.. I just did that cause I wanted to see if I could.

قال النبي ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏لا ‏ ‏حسد ‏ ‏إلا في اثنتين رجل آتاه الله مالا فسلط على هلكته في الحق ورجل آتاه الله الحكمة فهو يقضي بها ويعلمها ‏

The Messenger of Allah Sallallahu alayhi wa said: There is no envy except in two, a man to whom Allah has given wealth so (dunno what it means, spends?) on (dunno) in truth and a man to whom Allah has given wisdom so he (not sure) with it and (something to do with knowing but.. ?) =o

I think I need to start using a dictionary for words I don't know

Yes you have to put it in otherwise people won't understand what the hadeeth is saying, so things like that you put in brackets.

There are certain things a dictionary can't help with, like this hadeeth for instance.

There is no jealousy except in two (cases), a man whom Allaah has given wealth then he imposes upon himself to spend it in obedience, and a man whom Allaah has given wisdom then he discharges it and he teaches it.

That translation is a bit different to what's actually mentioned eh? But that's its meaning, sallata is a word used for overpowering control, it is used in this case to show that the person has no greed in him in his usage of it, and halakah literally means destroy, but it's used here to signify that he uses everything up in good things so that he has nothing left over, and al-haq literally means the truth, but it's general here to refer to all acts of obedience, and yaqdhi means he judges according to it (i'll explain that now), and yu'allimuhaa means he teaches it.

What is meant by hikmah? imaam ibn hajar rahimahullaah says it means the qur'aan, and he takes that view from the various other narrations of this hadeeth which the word qur'aan is used explicitly, so he says that this hadeeth means the same, but some other 'ulamaa say that it means all wise things which prevents ignorance and bad actions.

As for yaqdhi, if we take it in the meaning that it refers to the qur'aan, then it will mean that a person lives in accordance to the qur'aan, ya'ni he makes the halaal things halaal and the haraam things haraam, and he gives his rulings in the light of the qur'aan, and he lives according to it etc in all aspects of life.
