| Simply… against Injustice
When there’s nothin’ left but darkness to take away the pain
When there’s nothin’ left to live for in a world that’s gone insane
No comfort can I give ‘n no lies can I tell
Realty’s deceivin’ in the nightmares where I dwell
When bombs fall from a sky of bloodshed torn
When wars rage cold with hatred’s scorn
When hope’s lost and times have changed
When life’s stolen and my mind’s deranged
Heart broken eyes blind with tears
Soul frozen with darkest fears
Ears deafened by screams of agony
World choking in misery
Nothing’s as it seems nothing’s as it was before
No idea what’s next what horror’s in store
Death’s waitin’ and I’m waiting with arms held wide
Will the grave welcome I can’t decide
Bullets tear though heart on fire
I may die but war don’t retire
Murdered in my home with my family
Watching as I die helplessly
All it takes it a second ‘n life’s no more
My blood is spilt by the hands of war
Your hands killed me I name at last
My tormentor’s heart trapped in iron cast
Your silence my sentence to a dawn a screams
The night bringing no comfort of dreams
To a place where fire burns with ice
To a place where I’m trapped ‘n sliced with a knife
To a place there the bombs blow the children away
To a place where my sisters are raped where they lay
To a place where my brothers are tortured and burned
Why tell you when you’ve never been concerned?
Why tell you of the horrors I face each day?
I wouldn’t want my sufferin’ to get in your way
Why tell you when my voice is drowned out by the ignorance you choose?
You know the truth, too afraid of what you’re gonna lose
Stop actin’ like a sheep and stand up for the truth once more
Then you’ll understand why I still speak
Why there’s no strength left to weep
Why there’s nothin’ left ‘cept my mind ‘n faith alight
The one thing you cannot cage no matter what you throw
Is my belief; an understandin’ you can never know
It’s my soul my passion my thoughts my fear
Everything I fight for everything I hold dear
I lied; I have something to live for ‘n always will
Somethin’ my breath can’t wait for nor my pulse stay still
I’m trapped here with no escape, denied the choice to live
For freedom ‘n faith what price won’t I give?
I’m a prisoner of war, in chains and rags and blood, falling as I die
Flying with the wings of justice, rising to the sky
Did you never think to question why?
Tears burn on my eyes and my heart aches with pain I cannot describe
Yet there’s only the medicine of hope and struggle against oppression that I can prescribe
So tell me, for I cannot answer myself, though the answer is clear
How can you stand there, a bystander of injustice?
My blood is on your hands yet you feel no remorse, only hatred ‘n fear
My tears fall yet your eyes are dry
Heart stone cold as you watch me die
You may understand what it’s like yet you don’t speak out against your enemy
If united your voice will be heard, no longer helpless, O silent majority
We all crave peace and justice, so why not sign a treaty of peace?
Why not make it illegal to make guns and bombs, to have no reason for revolution, or change?
No cause means no war, no oppression means no retaliation, love means our heart must rearrange
Realign ourselves as one whole instead of divided, one world, one humanity
Equal in the eyes of God, no wars, no injustice, no poverty… only equality
Speak now so your voice is heard; not a voice of anger, or hatred, or defeat
A Voice of love and logic and compassion, of Change and brotherhood, untainted by lies or conceit
Speak now, or forever remain silent…
Silent not only to your own grave, but to the graves of all the victims of injustice… | |
