| Here's a link to the story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7117430.stmWhat does everyone make of this? Personally I think it has been totally blown out of proportion. I don't find it insulting nor do I find it offensive. She didn't know it would be offensive and didn't intend to cause any harm. I bet non muslims will now be thinking that Islam really is an intolerant religion, which isn't the case at all! | |

| The qadi of this case will probably dismiss it .... its clear that she never intended to do what they accuse her of doing ..... | |

| , If she is innocent, this will happen: "A Sudanese human rights lawyer and Member of Parliament countered that Mrs Gibbons may be acquitted or simply fined under the discretion of the magistrate. "It is not imperative to lash her, it is not imperative to send her to prison," said Ghazi Suleiman. "But I think the lady, she hasn't got any intention to insult the Islamic religion, therefore I am sure, very sure that if she went to the court she might be acquitted."" Otherwise, what happened here: " Mrs Gibbons was arrested on Sunday after several parents made complaints to Sudan's Ministry of Education."Could be for good reason! Parents complaining about her makes her case seem less innocent. And we have this: "But Sudan's top clerics have called for the full measure of the law to be used against Mrs Gibbons and labelled her actions part of a Western plot against Islam. "What has happened was not haphazard or carried out of ignorance, but rather a calculated action and another ring in the circles of plotting against Islam," the Sudanese Assembly of the Ulemas said in a statement. "I don't trust the Western Media so I take the stance that either she might be innocent or guilty, not one of the two. Only time will tell whether she is as innocent as it seems. And Allah knows best. Wassalam. | |

| , ..sometimes its hard to speculate a judgment just through what may seem to be apparent as you have to remember the media does blow things waaay out of proportion... she may be guilty she may be not..but I don't think we should even make a big fuss out of this..there are greater issues and problems out there that need to be tackled and they don't receive as much publicity so people are still unaware..furthermore, it should be greatly important for us to think about our own actions and whether our contribution in helping other Muslims is enough..rather than wasting time on the kuffar and which is expected of them anyway as they are ignorant of the truth.. waAllahu Alam. |
