AssalamuAlaykum

Yah seekhnee, thats what I said.

Well normal ppl start from numbers, seasons, directions etc etc but I'm assuming you know that already,

If I was my teacher I'd tell you to write an essay on 'My Family' [mera kumba - posh word-] but being a stalker I doubt you'd wanna do that tongue

Anything in particular you wanna know?

WassalamuAlaykum

It's about a shaheed, the word star is used metaphorically.

PostSubject: Re: The Official Urdu Thread   Sat Jan 03, 2009 5:12 pm

Partially, in the past i would have been able to read it fully, but years went by without me so much as looking at urdu words, then i went to arabic and then russian (which i left very soon) then japanese, so i forgot almost how to read urdu Neutral

Anyhoo i'll try to transliterate it as far as i can go,

Ik sitaarah tha mein
Kehkashaan ho gaya
hubb e yazdaan ka ik isti'aarah tha mein
Dastaan ho gaya
Mera naamaa e aamaal samjho zara ....... roshni hi to hai
Mera laasha e paa maal dekho bhala ...... zindagi hi to hai
Haan yehi zindagi hai mere dosto
Mein ne socha tha yeh
Ghar na deenay mubeen par yeh hoti fida
Aur kis kaam aani thi yeh zindagi
Aur phir yeh huwa
Qayday dunya se jab mein nikalne laga
Bandagi ka safar jab mein te kar chuka
Mein ne dheere se yeh saathiyon se kaha
Mein shaheed ab huwa
Phir gawaa'i ka kalimah zubaan par meri
lamha e waapseen khudrawaan ho gaya

That's as far as i can go, i can't make out the next sentence No
