| To answer you question, no I dont get stage fright or nervous when talking to crowds Alhamdulillah.
Make dua b4 u go on stage 1st tip, the dua of Musa AS when going before fir'aun, im sure you know it. 2nd tip, remember that you are only standing before people who are the same as you imagine the day u will be standing in front of the creator and there will be no helpers on that day 3rd tip, concentrate on something on the back of the room and make out that you talking to it 4th tip, remember everyone makes mistakes so dont let it get u down and ruin your whole thing 5th tip, dont forget the above tips - i may think of more but other than that just chill. no ones going to notice if you have a few slips. _________________

| Just imagine the audience sitting on the toilet...I've heard that works _________________ "..."It is only to Allah that I complain of my deep grief and my sorrow: for I know, from Allah, something that you do not know." (Surah Yusuf, Ayaah 86) |

| akhi yasser, be confident within yourself, cus if you keep thinking negatively about everything during the actual thing, more likely for you to slip up.... _________________ "...but it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and that you love a thing which is bad for you. | I hate presentations, Insha'Allaah don't need to do anymore...
Don't think about it too much because you will just worry... make sure you prepare, take some short notes....
Talk to the back wall if you want (better than looking at the floor)

| As a child i got a bit of stagefright, my ustaad was a qari and he chose me (because he liked me ) to read in the masjid at some occasion, i think i read surah a'la, and i ended up making a mistake in it and had to be corrected
I know someone who also has a slight form of stagefright, so he wears sunglasses (even if it's in the night) or he closes his eyes or just looks without seeing anything, then he doesn't notice the people and he can speak as normal. _________________ “There is no worse calamity for knowledge and its people than when outsiders intrude. | Qari yasser...I've always wanted to ask a Qari this question...How do you prepare for it? Like how do you hold your breath for so long? Do you have to eat and sleep right? Or it just talent? _________________ "..."It is only to Allah that I complain of my deep grief and my sorrow: for I know, from Allah, something that you do not know." (Surah Yusuf, Ayaah 86) |

| firstly when you prepare for it, you cant prepare exactly how your recitation is going to be like. its usually led by your emmotions at that particular moment.i read everyday whenever i have time . you have to stretch your breath by doing exercise. swimmin and jogging is good. on the day of recitation talk as less as possible. and the worst thing you can do is scream. its better to read on an empty stomache. having a good night sleep is also quite essential. lots of water is very good it takes away the stickyness of the throat. milk is no good nor is chewing gum....fizzy drink is bad as well
i usually do basic vocal exercises like closing meeting the 2 lips together and saying a low note 4 30 seconds like mmmmm then go a note higher and so on and and so forth...
it can be very complex at times and the melody of the recitation should collate with the meaning of the ayat. you cant be reading about jahannum and be reading in a happy tune. this goes against the respect of the quran. and the arabs take this very offensive. although the normal person wont really realise....... this is a happy tune.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3rgd9p2-Sw.
this is a sad tune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNHwBMZwnXU&feature=related
every person has a good voice , all you have to do is open that voice up, this can be done by recitation and also by listening and imitating.... |

for that bruv
Btw first link doesn't work but i think i know what you mean with the happy and sad tune...Another thing i wanted to ask was some people cover their face/ears when they're reciting, why do they do that? _________________ "..."It is only to Allah that I complain of my deep grief and my sorrow: for I know, from Allah, something that you do not know." | well thats is a tradition of the egyptians..... many ppl do it, and many ppl give different reasons for doing it. some say for concentration because the stress gathers at the temples on the 2 sides of the head. others say it gives a good effect on the mics, others say it helps them conceal when they take a breath where there not supposed to.... i dont do it and none of my asaatizah did it.........

Erm have you got a clip of yourself reciting? I know a sister posted it once before but that didn't work
And who did you study by if you don't mind me asking? And can you read in all 7 different styles? _________________ "..."It is only to Allah that I complain of my deep grief and my sorrow: for I know, from Allah, something that you do not know." (Surah Yusuf, Ayaah 86) |
