| , Some advice by a wise brother on another forum which I thought was worth sharing :') : "Asalaamu alaikum warahmatulahi wabarakatuh Okay, listen up people. I think we need to cut down on the articles a little bit [unless you feel they're really important] Now what the forum's missing is members, and more importantly - discussion. Once we get discussion going, we get more members. With more members we get more support, and ideas. This forum needs ideas. Now, i want anyone to randomly go upto any section and start asking questions which you're unsure of, or something which you want to pose to the people (like some non muslims or sometimes even anti-Islamic people may do.) Them threads - they can't be left alone, someone HAS to answer them, otherwise.. something might happen? (we'll have to decide what that thing is with the mods.) This is how discussion will start, it won't start by posting lots of articles (which alot of people might not even read!) - it will make you confident in gaining answers, aswell as confidence in expressing yourself and how to give answers. You can use the articles already posted to find & give a response too. So c'mon! lets get goin... the more members participate - the more new kool things we might be able to introduce into the forums for you guys, insha Allah.." Wassalam |

| , Thought so . Your crying reminds me of this article: Crying in Front of Allah-It's not impossibleby Abdul Malik Mujahid When was the last time you cried? Not a few drops of salty water from your eyes, or the odd tear that slipped down your face while watching a tragic event. I'm talking about warm tears of the heart. Tears that sting your face because they've been there so long, their bitter saltiness hurts your skin. When was the last time you cried like a baby? Aisha, may Allah be pleased with our mother, relates that: In the last ten of Ramadan, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to tighten his waist belt, pray all night, and wake up his family for the night prayers (Bukhari and Muslim). Almost two thirds of Ramadan is gone. We powerless people will soon be looking for the Night of Power (Laylatul Qadr), which we are advised to seek in these last ten nights of Ramadan. Aisha related that the Prophet said: Look for Laylatul Qadr on an odd-numbered night during the last ten nights of Ramadan (Bukhari). We can't afford not to be crying in front of Allah, the Merciful, All-Aware. Tears flow when we remember how much Allah has blessed us with and how much we disobey Him. We can never repay Allah for everything we have, yet we still blatantly commit sins both big and small: whether it's backbiting, hurting other human beings, not standing up for the truth, treating our family badly, lying, doing good deeds to show off, cheating, etc. Allah opens ways out of problems for us, easing our burdens. Yet, we still disobey Him and take His Mercy for granted. Abdullah ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said he would rather shed two tears from the fear of Allah than give a thousand dinars in charity. And the most telling example of a man who few would think would cry because of Allah is Umar, may Allah be pleased with him. He was known for being strong, fearless, and uncompromising when it came to matters of faith. Yet, Abdullah ibn Isa said that Umar had two black streaks on his face because of constant weeping. He feared Allah so much that he once said, "If someone announced from the heavens that everybody will enter Paradise except one person, I would fear that that person would be me." Umar was one of the strongest believers. Yet he cried and feared Allah. And Abu Bakr, he was simply known for his crying. These people loved to serve human beings in the day and spent time begging God to save humanity at night. May Allah be pleased with them. Let's be more contemplative and pray for an awareness of and forgiveness for our sins, as well as softness in our hearts. If Umar the brave and pious did it, we have even more need and urgency to do it. Human beings are in turmoil. Connecting with God with our hearts and begging for His Mercy for His Creation will bring us Closer to Him and human beings. http://www.soundvision.com/info/ramadan/10.cry.asp . |

The funny thing is, they quote this part usually: "He feared Allah so much that he once said, "If someone announced from the heavens that everybody will enter Paradise except one person, I would fear that that person would be me.""
But leave out the the second half, since the full saying goes like this: 'Umar (RA) said: If it were announced from the heaven: ‘O people! You are all entering Paradise except one,’ I would fear to be he; and if it were announced: ‘O people! You are all entering the Fire except one,’ I would hope to be he.""
The lesson? Fear Allah as He should be feared and hope for His Mercy as you should hope for It. And Allah knows best.

WHAT?!
Kk, to be serious, no I don't think so? But fear him properly and at the same time, hope for His Mercy?! Anyway I think what is most correct to say is at times and at all times we should Fear Allah but in some moments Fear of Allah is more desired and should be stronger and at other times, Hoping in Allah's Mercy is more desired and should be stronger. I may be waffling so: And Allah knows best.

We should fear Allah always but have hope in His mercy and forgiveness also, most often than not people lose hope when they sin, think Allah aint gonne forgive em, but He is the all-forgiving. Or when He tests em...they lose hope....think Allah dont love em no more ... But Allah only tests those He loves and He never overburdens any soul ... Or sometimes when a du'aa isnt answered, peoplings lose hope.... well maybe its because they never had hope that it'd be accepted in the first place, we need to place 100% tawakkul in Allah Subhanahu Wata'aala...
....And when I said between fear and hope...I was actually thinking of Abu Muslim on Ummah....he has bayna khawf wa something in his profile...it means between fear and hope...

Allahu A'lam about that bayna khawf wa thing, since I remember reading ahadith/in books (somewhere) that you should fear Allah continuously but when the time for death comes, or near it, then this is when you hope for His Mercy. So I don't know about that saying... who said it?
for your post ukht.

Hey hold up! So you're saying we shouldnt have hope??
WassalamuAlaykum |
,
The most important thing is to Fear Allah, you know if I was to just hope for His Mercy and then not really do anything, do you think what would work in my favour?! Of course we should have the hope that He will Forgive us, but the Fear should be more IMO than the hope - that will make us hasten towards good deeds, until near death (which is when we hope for His Mercy)... And I remember reading a saying by a great scholar who said "The fool is the one who hope's for Allah's Mercy/Paradise and doesn't put forward any good works for it" (paraphrased, he said something like that!). Allahu A'lam as usual : O.

It's not the camel thing really IMO, since the camel thing is doing things yourself (trying your best) and at the same time Trusting in Allah (trusting that He will do everying for the best). Fear and Hope is another thing altogether... Allahu A'lam, maybe Abu Mus'ab or someone more knowledgable can shed some more light on this :').

On reflection I'd say that is right and may Allah forgive me : O (at the time it just seemed to be contradictive to say between the 2, which = a new word: fearhope or hopefear) . Allahu A'lam.
